It comes after heavy snowfall has caused chaos on roads across the region this morning, with some people even having to abandon their vehicles due to the treacherous conditions.

The company tweeted: "Due to the heavy snow and blocked roads, our buses in Harrogate will now pause where they are whilst conditions get clearer. Buses are running Leeds-Alwoodley on #The36, and Leeds-Wetherby on the 7. If you need any help, just send us a message here."

CEO Alex Hornby has praised the teams for all their hard work despite the difficulties - which he says come not just from the snow, but from road obstructions and stranded vehicles.

He tweeted a series of images showing the snow-covered roads, writing: "These are the scenes in Harrogate - huge thanks to our teams for doing their best so far this morning in hugely demanding circumstances here and elsewhere. Problem isn’t just the snow itself but that roads are blocked with abandoned vehicles. We are all doing our best though!"

Members of the team are currently out clearing snow and gritting the roads to get services back up and running as quick as possible. They have thanked the public for bearing with them while they try to make conditions as safe as possible.

North Yorkshire Police has urged people only to travel if absolutely essential and to use dipped headlights when doing so.
