The Christmas present by Harrogate Bus Company is part of bus operator Transdev's £1 fare offer for any journey on its routes across Yorkshire.

The travel firm says its low-price fare deal is its way of thanking its customers for their valued support throughout an eventful year which saw its unique ‘Clean, Safe, Ready to Go’ campaign to attract people back to the bus named the nation’s number one at the prestigious UK Bus Awards – the Oscars of the bus industry.

On Boxing Day, any single journey on any Transdev bus across Yorkshire will cost just one pound, regardless of the distance travelled – so cost-conscious customers can travel from Ripon or Harrogate to Leeds, Denby Dale to Huddersfield or Keighley to Leeds or Bradford for only £1.

Transdev CEO Alex Hornby said: “We’re delighted to be able to offer this amazing low fare for travel on any of our buses this Boxing Day.

"We want to thank all of our customers for their support throughout another year like no other, which began with nationwide travel restrictions and saw a national shortage of bus drivers affecting every bus operator in Britain.

“Through all the twists and turns of 2021, we haven’t just ridden the rollercoaster of the pandemic – we’ve managed to excel and attract many new customers at a time when others in our industry are in decline.

“We also welcomed a new arrival to our Transdev family of bus operators in Yorkshire – Team Pennine, based in Huddersfield and Elland near Halifax. Investment in new and better buses, including almost £1 million on high-specification new buses for Team Pennine’s Calder Country network, is delivering on our promise to renew 1 in 2 of our fleet within our first six months on the road.
