Fire at the Hydro swimming pool in Harrogate

Swimmers and staff were forced to be evacuated from the Hydro Swimming Pool in Jennyfields area of Harrogate today (July 10).

Crews from North Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service were alerted to the blaze at 1.16pm as a result of an automatic fire alarm.

Upon arrival, the crews smoke billowing from the top of the building and used two hose reels to extinguish the small fire in the plant room.

Swimmers and staff were evacuated from the building and the crews used four breathing apparatus, a nine metre and 13.5 metre ladder during the incident.

Nobody was injured in the incident.
