Hopes for some families to return home after giant sinkhole appears in Ripon
No further slippage has been reported at the Ripon sinkhole over the weekend despite the British Geological Survey's (BGS) warning that the site remains a risk.
On Friday, November 11, the BGS warned that there was the potential for further slippage around the sinkhole on Magdalens Road following their assessment.
However, officers from Harrogate Borough Council have confirmed there have been no further major developments at the site.
The council, together with their partners, are now investigating temporary solutions to allow some evacuated residents to return to their properties.
These homes were evacuated after a sewage system, connected to several of the properties, cracked as the hole appeared.
Representatives from Yorkshire Water are currently on the site evaluating options.
A council spokesperson said: "Our main responsibility is to continue to protect the public from any danger.
"We have ensured the area affected by the sinkhole has been cordoned off and a safety perimeter established to deter anyone from entering the area.
"We will continue to provide advice and support for those affected by the sinkhole."
