Town companies up for national tourist awards

A HOST of Harrogate companies are in the finals for a national award.

The VisitEngland awards aim to celebrate the best of the tourist trade.

Companies from across the country are competing in the awards, with the winners to be announced on May 22.

Among those from Harrogate taking part is the Harrogate Tourist Information Centre (TIC), Rudding Park Hotel, Fodder and Swinton Park.

Harrogate’s TIC has been shortlisted for Visitor Information Provider of the Year.

Helen Suckling, visitor services manager said: “We are delighted to achieve a place as a finalist in these prestigious awards.

“It recognises the exceptional service that every visitor to Harrogate receives from the team.”

Rudding Park Hotel, Spa and Golf at Follifoot has been named as a finalist in the Hotel of the Year category.

Managing director Peter Banks said: “We strive to provide the utmost in value to our guests through the highest standards of service and constant development of our facilities.”

Fodder, the Yorkshire Agricultural Society’s flagship food hall has been named as a finalist for the Taste of Britain Award.

Managing director Heather Parry said: “We’re thrilled to be considered for this national award—as tourism is a huge part of spreading the message of great Yorkshire Food and Drink to an audience outside the county.

“Credit must go to our hard working and innovative suppliers and our wonderful customers who enjoy the great quality and flavours of fresh, local food.”

Swinton Park, a luxury hotel near Masham with fine dining, cookery school, spa and extensive grounds, is a finalist in the Small Hotel of the Year category.

They will find out if they have won in a ceremony in Leicester on May 22.

All finalists are guaranteed to receive a Gold, Silver, Bronze or Highly Commended Award.
