The eyes of the world will be on the Harrogate district for Le Tour in July 2014.

And district businesses are being urged to make the most of the opportunity to showcase themselves on one of the biggest sporting stages in the world.

Welcome to Yorkshire Chief Executive Gary Verity labelled the opportunity a ‘bonanza’.

He said: “We hope all local businesses are starting to get their heads around the route, and the fact there is going to be a huge amount of people in Yorkshire.

“The success of the event will be down to the details, and we all need to work together.”

It is likely part of the first stage will take place on West Park, with the riders having cycled up Ripon Road and Parliament Street.

Grandstands will be erected on the road, including outside Hotel du Vin.

General Manager Grant Lowe is hoping to see a Yorkshire rider Mark Cavendish scoop the stage one yellow jersey outside his hotel.

He said: “It is a fantastic opportunity to showcase Yorkshire and Harrogate to the world.

“It is fantastic and fitting to have it outside our French hotel, as long as a Yorkshireman wins!”
