Visit Harrogate director and former mayor Mike Newby said: “The image of the Stray is a fantastic advert and gateway into the town – it sets the standard for our floral and natural landscape.

“It’s a splendid, iconic view that I am sure will bring back memories for people who have lived here, and is something to show off for people who currently do.

“The Stray is so much much a part of Harrogate’s origins as a spa town, of relaxation and restoration of health – something the Stray has in abundance.

“At this time of year the cherry trees on the Stray must be our most photographed image. They just look so beautiful!”
