"Who would do such a thing?" They cried. And it was all for a good cause as well! - To celebrate Starbeck in Bloom's 20th anniversary.

The whole high street is decorated with straw people to mark this amazing community group's milestone, but it looked like someone had swiped the library's creation for good, which had the face of their volunteer coordinator Moira Smith pinned on it.

But North Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service Station Manager Ben Cairns came to the rescue today, when he discovered the scarecrow far away from home.

A fun tweet from Starbeck in Bloom reads: "Glad you didn't want ransom! Solved a mystery, but how did she travel by bus or car!"

"Abducted from outside Starbeck Library Saturday night - now been returned from Boroughbridge Police station."
