That's my mum with The Beatles backstage in 1963!

A photograph of The Beatles at Harrogate's Royal Hall published by the Harrogate Advertiser as part of its Retro nostalgia series has prompted a reader to get in touch saying his mum is in the picture!

The picture shows the Fab Four in their dressing room chatting to some excitable teenage fans on Friday, March 8, 1963 after their only concert appearance in Harrogate.

Having seen the photo, reader Phil Stocks emailed saying: “I could not believe my eyes, as the blonde lady on the right of the picture is my mum,  Mrs Janet Hartley, as she was then.

“My father, Mr Allan Stocks was probably the photographer, as he worked for the local newspaper and has told me that he was there that night to photograph the band.

“As luck would have it, my mum is visiting from Australia in June.”

It’s the second memory triggered by our recent series of articles on the district’s rock n roll history.

Last week we received an unpublished photo of the Small Faces at the Royal Hall in Harrogate in 1966.

In future weeks, our Retro series of nostalgia features
