Sun shines as Leeds Festival gets underway

Leeds festival gets underway in earnest today, with live acts taking to the nine stages in Bramham Park from midday.

Some 80,000 music fans will flock into Bramham Park for the 2015 Leeds Festival.

Tonight (Aug 28) sees British indie legends The Libertines headline the Main Stage as they prepare to release their first album in a decade.

Wakefield band The Cribs will also play over the course of the day.

Network Rail staff are preparing themselves for an influx of music lovers through Leeds Station with Helen Dawson, station manager for Network Rail, saying: ““Trains, platforms and walkways will be busier than usual.”

The Highways Agency have warned drivers to take extra care on the roads and plan their travel routes in advance. Over 15,000 motorists have flocked to the city over the last few days, with thousands more expected.
