Church News: Holy Communion service at 8.30am on November 11 in Copgrove Church. The United Benefice Remembrance Service will be at 10.55am in Arkendale Church on Sunday, November 11. Dates for the diary - this year’s Carol Service at All Saints, Staveley will be on Sunday, December 16 at 6pm and the Copgrove Carol Service will be on Thursday, December 20 at 7.30pm.

Village Hall: The kitchen makeover has now been completed and we are sure it will make the hall an even better place to hold events both private and public. The next village hall event will be on Tuesday, December 18 when we welcome back the Bad Apple Theatre Company with their latest production A Yorkshire Christmas Carol. Tickets are selling fast and are available from Pam Coatham on 01423 340505 - buy now to avoid disappointment. Table Tennis has now started and new members are always welcome on Wednesday evenings.The sponsored table tennis marathon will be on Saturday, November 17 and Sunday, November 18. Sponsors and players will be most welcome and full details are available from Ken Barker on 01423 340293. The marathon is now in its 14th year and has raised over £60,000 for worthy causes including Macmillan Cancer Relief, British Red Cross and Yorkshire Air Ambulance.

Historical Society: the first meeting of the new season was much enjoyed by members when Simon Tomson gave a talk on Monasticism in Yorkshire. The next meeting is on November 19 when Julian Hunphrys will tell us about The Battle of Flodden which took place in Northumberland in 1513. New members and visitors are always welcome and there are lots of interesting subjects coming up.

It’s good to see the street light next to the bus shelter is working again - just in time for the changing of the clocks.
