The hall at St Andrew’s Church was packed on February 8 as 15 groups shared why they are proud to be a part of Starbeck. From Starbeck library to the local schools and the Gala committee, dozens turned out to show their support and back the campaign.

Sarah Rowntree from Starbeck Community Primary School said: “We appreciate how clean and beautiful Starbeck is, and all the hard work that Starbeck in Bloom does to keep it that way. We are excited to be a part of the bid, and it’s great to see so many people here. It’s a lovely community and this bid will be a big part of showing that.”

Melissa Sparks from Springwater school said: “We are really excited to be a part of it, particularly because as a school we want to get involved in the community as much as possible. What makes Starbeck special? I think we can see it here looking around now, with so many different groups involved.”

Coordinator of Starbeck in Bloom, Christine Stewart, said: “Let’s put the star into Starbeck, and make it even more special than it already is.”

The evening was opened by the Mayor of the Borough of Harrogate, Coun Nick Brown. He said: “Starbeck is special, and you can see why even from just how many people are here.”
