This year’s lights will be a change from the usual and will see a plethora of new lights along the High Street, two Christmas trees and a Christmas Fair all rolled into a single fun-packed day and evening.

The fair, from 3-7.30pm in the halls at the rear of St Andrew’s Church will feature gift and craft stalls, tombola, face painting, cake stalls, refreshments, bouncy castle and Santa’s Grotto. The countdown to switch on is at 6.30pm.

One of the huge Christmas trees, supplied by Transdev, has been reinstated to its old home of Prospect Park and the other is outside St Andrew’s.

Committee Chairman, Phill Brownley said: “The support from local residents and businesses has been great and we have had some fantastic raffle prizes donated so far.

“However, we still need the folk of Starbeck to dig deep if they want to enjoy the lights year after year.

“We had an overwhelming turnout at this year’s gala, so that has really boosted the coffers, but with some big costs associated with the refurbishment of the existing lights, and a whole set of new lights this year, we still desperately need everyone’s support and generosity.”
