Tri-coloured border collie Jesii is celebrating after being crowned winner of the Star Pets competition.

A picture of Jesii taken by her owners Jane and John Sturdy of Knox Way took the honours ahead of other entries from across the district.

After being told of the win, Jane told the Harrogate Advertiser series: “We got Jesii when she was four, from friends of ours and people call us the Three J’s!

“At the time we also had a black lab, but she settled in very quickly with us, and let our lab grow old gracefully.”

Jesii was born in 2004, and the winning picture was taken on the seaside at Bridlington.

Jane said: “Jesii loves walks, we take her to the Swan on the Stray, and to York on the trian, where there are lots of dog-friendly places to go.”

However, Jane revealed that Jesii can misbehave at times. She said: “She doesn’s really like getting her feet wet, or cats, and she will have a go at the vacuum cleaner.

“Windscreen wipers are a nightmare. Whenever they come on, she starts barking!
