The adapted sign has gone viral and people on social media have used it as an opportunity to come up with their best horsey puns.

The Bramham estate is set to be awash in Land Rovers and horse enthusiasts as it becomes the capital of the UK’s equestrian world.

The Lane Fox family are ready to offer around 500 of the world’s finest equestrians, not to forget the thousands of fans, a warm welcome to the Equi Trek Bramham International Horse Trials which runs from tomorrow (Thursday, June 11) to Sunday.

The entry list of competitors reads for this year reads like a who’s who of eventing; medallists galore, six former winners and a current world champion.

Household names such as William Fox-Pitt will head the British entry with Pippa Funnell, Kristina Cook, Oliver Townend and local heroine Nicola Wilson all amongst the top names entered.

But Bramham, as always, is as much social occasion, as sporting competition.

The Queen’s granddaughter Zara Phillips is a regular and competed last year just five months after the birth of her daughter Mia.

A focal point for anyone who loves the rural world, Bramham always boasts a huge array of trade stands for shoppers and a food hall packed with delicious morsels.

Last year’s visitors to Bramham were drenched by summer showers which left cars being towed out of the sludge after the Saturday’s cross-country round.

But the forecast is looking kinder for this year with the BBC predicting some sunshine most days except for Saturday which sadly, once again, may see some rain.

Laura Jennings, event assistant at Bramham Park, said the competition had changed beyond recognition since it was first held in 1974. It now attracts around 60,000 visitors and demands a support crew of around 300.

She said: “We’re hoping that this year we will be basking in sunshine and we will be reaching for the sun cream and not the brollies!

“It’s very challenging but those that do well here at Bramham tend to go on and go to the very, very top.”

One Yorkshire rider returning to the fold is George Whitaker who has not competed at Bramham in recent years due to commitments abroad.

He said: “I haven’t been for a couple of years because I have always been aboard jumping but this year I have made sure I can go because I really like it.

“It’s a great event - people know who you are because you’re from Yorkshire so you get the crowd behind you. “

The action kicks off today, Thursday June with dressage and the Hunter Show while the under-25s are all day Friday with the remainder of the others.

Saturday sees all three tackle Ian Stark’s stunning cross country while Sunday’s climax includes two CCI sections.

This year’s event will see cross country designer Ian Stark unveiling his new. The start and finish remains at the highest part of the park by the stables, away from the main hustle and bustle of the showground but Stark has a few new tests in store for the riders and an exciting new woodland loop to take the course to an area previously ‘off limits’.

There will be British Showjumping classes in both arenas featuring Robert Smith, Olivia Dales, Pippa Allen and an amazing seven members of the Whitaker dynasty.

One Yorkshire ace who has been forced to miss Bramham is Harrogate’s rising eventing star Hazel Towers whose horse Simply Clover is injured.
