Solihull defeat needs to be viewed in context '“ Simon Weaver

Although disappointed by the manner of his side's defeat at Solihull Moors in midweek, Simon Weaver insists that the result must be viewed within the context of the season to date as a whole.

The Harrogate Town boss admitted that his players did not reach the levels that he expects on Tuesday evening, but said they are allowed an off day from time to time.

“We fell short on the night and, like I told Solihull’s manager Tim Flowers after the game, they deserved to win,” Weaver said.

“The FA Cup replay at Wrexham aside, this is the first time all season that I think we’ve really under-performed and haven’t at least looked a threat at some point in the game.

“We were a bit leggy, we weren’t brave enough on the ball and Solihull were able to play on their terms.

“I’m disappointed, but after one really poor performance in 23 league games at a level that is new to us this season, I don’t think I need to panic. We are going to see the odd flat display from time to time.

“It’s important to put this result into perspective, and, if you consider the bigger picture, who can really say they’re too upset when they look at the league table and see that we’re sat in third place in December.”

Town will be aiming to bounce back when they host Aldershot at the CNG Stadium on Saturday, 3pm kick-off.
