Snow hits Harrogate hard today with chaos on the roads

Harrogate motorists are being advised to leave their cars at home today, Monday, as the snow turns roads to chaos with minor accidents and big queues.

Such is the disruption because of winter weather in central Harrogate and the roads in and out of the town, some schools are closing and school bus services are being effected.

There are two yellow weather warnings in place for snow and rain.

Schools reported closed today, according to North Yorkshire County Council, include: Harrogate High School - closed, Beckwithshaw CP School - opening at 11.00, Bedale High School - closed, Darley Primary School - closed, Hookstone Chase Primary School - closed, Nidderdale High School - closed, Oatlands Infant School, Harrogate - closed, and more.
