Nidderdale High School hosted its first ever cyclo-cross event and it was a storming success.
The marshalls had laid out an interesting and challenging course in the field behind the school buildings. Despite the natural limitations of the area, they were able to include sharp turns, steep grassy slopes, fast straights, tarmac sections, and even a rough country’section where many contestants had to dismount and carry their bikes.
Two races were held under the Yorkshire Cyclo-Cross Summer Series: a junior race for 13-and-under and a senior event for 14-and-over with competitors up to 70-years.
The event also raised money for Nidderdale High School’s Mini-Bus fund. The next mini-bus fundraiser will be a car boot sale. The sale will be held in the school grounds on Sunday,July 14. Buyers from noon.
