Slideshow: Army Cadets’ celebrate 40-year reunion in Harrogate

Former Army cadets came together for a reunion at the Majestic Hotel in Harrogate to celebrate a 40-year landmark.

And almost £1,000 was raised for charity Combat Stress from the group who attended the then Army Apprentices College in September 1976 aged just 16.

The group went on to graduate from the college, now known as the Army Foundation College in Penny Pot Lane, in 1978 to start their career in the Royal Corps of Signals.

The reunion was attended by wives and partners as well.

“The highlight really was that we had one attend from New Zealand and one from Australia with many coming from various parts of Europe,” said spokesman Clive Howells, who was a Warrant Officer at the college in 1976 with Alex Kubu.

“Equally our time at the camp has given men from all over the country a lifetime link and bond with the beautiful town of Harrogate.

“We intend to meet again in two years’ time to celebrate our graduation.”
