Santas on the Run to bag cash for hospice

Santas will go on the run later this month to raise money for Martin House children's hospice.

Families and groups are invited to don Father Christmas suits and join in the event at Stockeld Park on Sunday November 27.

Now in its eighth year, entrants take to a 1km course of the winter theme park’s Enchanted Forest and are encouraged to run, walk or even skip up to 5km.

Last year’s event saw 500 Santas brave wintry conditions to raise over £10,000 for the hospice.

Director of Fundraising, Jodie Shepherd, said: “Since joining Martin House in Spring this year, I’ve been overwhelmed by the positivity and generosity of our supporters.

“The joy of an event like Santas on the Run is that it’s something people of any age can enjoy and make their own.

“I would encourage anyone who hasn’t taken part before to join us this year and experience a Martin House event for themselves.

“Not only is a wonderful way to celebrate the start of the festive season, your sponsorship could help us to support a family near you.”

This year’s event is once again sponsored by Kettlewell Fuels and Redrow Homes, whose generous support ensures that the event is able to raise even more money for children and young people with life-limiting illnesses.

Entry to Santas on the Run is £10 for adults and £7 for children aged 5-16 and includes the all-important red suit and bushy beard.

This year, the charity is making fundraising easier by offering individuals the opportunity to make a donation in lieu of sponsorship.
