Nominations are now open for the second annual Ripon Awards, which recognise and celebrate inspirational people from across our city.

Boasting a wide range of categories - from volunteer of the year, to independent business of the year, the awards aim to proudly showcase all that makes Ripon special.

The ceremony on October 27 will be hosted by The Old Deanery, who are the organisers of the event.

General manager and executive director, Chris Brown, said: “The aim of creating the Ripon Awards was not only to cast a light on the magnificent people and businesses in and around Ripon, but also to bring the community as a whole closer together.

“The Ripon Awards don’t just celebrate local businesses - there are also multiple hero awards, which celebrate those in our community that put a great deal back in to Ripon, along with the best photo of Ripon and surrounding areas award – championing the fantastic photographers we have in Ripon too, amateur and professional.”

Nominations can be made through the Ripon Awards website -, and the deadline for nominations is August 18.

The shortlist for the awards will be revealed by the end of August.
