Christmas Exhibition: a wealth of talent will be on show for the Christmas Exhibition at Chantry House Gallery with work of the quality and diversity for which the gallery is so well known. Leading the exhibition will be highly acclaimed artist, Emerson Mayes, whose work reflects his obvious passion for both the Yorkshire landscape and its wildlife. There will be new work from David Howell whose landscapes, marine and equestrian paintings are always in demand, Mark Sofilas, whose paintings are inspired by the idiosyncrasies of the northern English and Scottish countryside and bring a fresh perspective from someone who originates from the very different environment of Western Australia, and Jo Stockdale who looks beyond a photographic image of the animals she paints and captures the essence and character of her subject, enabling a sense of energy and emotion to penetrate her work. Exhibiting at the gallery for the first time will be Heather Davies and Jane Fielder and there will also be paintings from some of the gallerys regular and favourite artists, in addition to sculpture by Rosemary Cook, Paul Jenkins, David Meredith and Chris Moss. The exhibition opens on Saturday, November 24 and will run to Sunday, December 30. Having enjoyed a wonderful eight years running the gallery, Richard and Chris Braddon will be retiring after this exhibition and handing over the reins to new owners from the beginning of 2013. They wish the gallery continued success in the future. Chantry House Gallery is open Wednesday-Saturday, 11am-5pm and Sunday noon-5pm. For further information telephone 01423 771011. e-mail:
