Rescue team called to rocks to help missing and injured

It was a busy day in Ilkley for the rural rescue team on Thursday after being called to help an injured woman and find a missing man.

The Upper Wharfedale Fell Rescue Association spent nearly 5 hours at Cow and Calf rocks in Ilkley after being called out to help an injured woman.

The team was called by the Yorkshire Ambulance Sevice to help a 64-year-old woman who injuired her leg whilst climbing a kilometre away from the rocks at about 12.30pm.

Team members carried the woman to a waiting road ambulance before they received a call at 3pm from North Yorkshire Police asking for help finding a high risk male.

The UWFRA members were assisted by the Calder Valley Search and Rescue team, and found the man who was taken to a waiting road ambulance after treatment on scene.
