A Music festival due to be held in the grounds of Harewood House this weekend has been cancelled because of the weather.

MFest, which featured Steps, Paul Heaton, Human League and Texas on its line-up, has been called off in the face of an extreme weather warning from the Met Office.

The decision was made on Thursday by the promoter, the production team, Harewood House and Leeds City Council.

In a joint statement, they said: “The public’s health and safety is of paramount concern, therefore it would be irresponsible to continue, however disappointed we all are.”

Details of ticket refunds will be announced on Monday, July 9.
