'Queen' headline festival on The Stray on Saturday + local bands

Harrogate Fake Festival is bringing Queen, Kasabian and U2 tribute acts to The Stray tomorrow, Saturday, July 23, as the popular touring tribute festival rolls into town for the second year.

Entry to the giant marquee on West Park - and the food and drink stalls - starts as early as lunchtime.

As well as star tribute acts New 2, Kazabian and Flash playing live on the The Stray, the spotlight will also fall in Harrogate Fake Festival on younger, local, original bands.

The headliners will hit the stage inside the giant marquee from 6.15pm but doors open at 12.30pm and the afternoon will give Strangers in Paradise (4pm) and Purple Mafia (5pm) the chance to appear in what looks set to be an audience of hundreds or, even, thousands of people.

Most Popular

Strangers in Paradise are a powerful four-piece band from Harrogate featuring the incredibly talented Mosby brothers - lead guitarist Steve and bassist Andy.

The band, which started as a 1970s-influenced three-piece is now completed by Adam Tait (vocals/guitar) and Andy Schofield (drums/backing vocals).

Their sound features big rock riffs with soul, rap, hip hop and catchy, dynamic melodies.

Purple Mafia are former students of Ripon Grammar School who famously won the AMP Awards final at Harrogate’s Royal Hall and ended up on stage in one of LA’s most legendary venues.

Since then the poppy five-piece outfit - Dan, Harry, Josh, Joe and Alex - have toured Britain and played major shows.

Other local bands appearing include The Superlatives, The Deadstones and Bad Asteroids.
