The nominations are in and now the countdown is on to the 2017 Harrogate Hospitality and Tourism Awards!

Winners will be announced at a sold-out ceremony at Harrogate’s Royal Hall on Monday, June 5.

Organisers Simon Cotton and David Ritson of Destination Harrogate received 1,500 responses to the awards this year.

Here we profile the first set of nominees. Next week we will feature the shortlist in the remaining categories.

Waiter/Waitress of the Year – sponsored by Harrogate Spring Water

A very popular choice with many, Pennie will do ‘anything for anyone’ and is bubbly and friendly’. Her dedication is clear and she treats everyone like a VIP– a true ambassador of her profession.

David’s fans say he is ‘a lovely man with a smiley face’ who has unbelievable knowledge of food, provides excellent service and attention to detail and is professional and passionate about his work.

Louise loves her job and customers according to those who nominated her. They also praise her with thank you cards and compliment her on her ‘cheerfulness and fantastic service, offering everyone that special Bettys experience.

Renowned for his commitment and focus towards his role and the industry as well as the imagination he uses to create cocktail recipes and ‘a knowledge and experience beyond his years’. Jack is an asset to West Park and a ‘GM of the future.

Natalie is described as a ‘great hostess with great knowledge of all products and impeccable service. She is very community focused and willing to go that extra mile for her customers.

Always very welcoming and has a smile for everyone. Kita is also praised for taking massive pride in her job. Her fans say she does an amazing job and deserves to be Harrogate’s best bar person.

According to his nominations Will is a fantastic bartender; who makes people feel like VIPs with great service and brilliant product knowledge with great pride in his work.

He deals really well with any tricky late night/early hours customers and Viper Rooms are proud to have him as part of their team.
