Popular Tractor Fest ploughs its way to a new event record

And the exhibitors celebrated HM The Queen’s birthday on Saturday with a mass tractor tootle.

Attracting enthusiasts and families from across the country and held over the two days, the Tractor Fest featured a popular Made in Yorkshire theme which was well supported by owners of Yorkshire marques from around the UK.

Richard Sturdy, chairman of organisers the Yorkshire Vintage Association said: “Thank you to everyone involved in organising this year’s event, as well as the exhibitors and visitors who really make the festival what it is.

“We really appreciate the fantastic support and despite the rather mixed weather we enjoyed our biggest and best show yet.

“We look forward to seeing everyone at next year’s Tractor Fest at Newby Hall on 10 and 11 June.”

The spectacular March of the Tractors, held on Saturday evening, saw more than 150 tractors motor from Newby Hall to Ripon’s market square.

The tractors’ departure back to Newby was marked in the now traditional manner by the Ripon Hornblower sounding his historic horn.

This year’s event showcased vintage tractors, engines, commercial vehicles, cars and motorcycles from around the UK and Europe.

Yorkshire vintage vehicles included David Brown and International tractors, as well as rare gems such as a Sharp Tractor from 1907.

Local manufacturers included Priestman Excavators, Jowett cars, Scott Motor Cycle Group, the Yorkshire Motor Company and crawlers and motor tractors from Fowlers and Walsh and Clark.

The Tractor Fest is organised by the Yorkshire Vintage Association, sponsored by machinery auctioneers Cheffins and supported by Ripon based Econ.

Tractor Fest 2017 will take place on June 10 and 11.
