A PUBLIC consultation opens next week over plans for a new hotel complex in the centre of Harrogate.
Developer Gregory Projects Ltd plans to transform the former bowling alley in Tower Street into a four-storey, 78-bedroom hotel including a restaurant and gym.
Hotel chain Travelodge has already agreed terms to lease the hotel and restaurant over a 25-year term and the developer has had interest in the gym plans.
A consultation will be held at the Tap and Spile pub opposite the site on Thursday, January 5 from 3 to 7pm.
Richard Tovey of Gregory Projects said: “The bowling alley on Tower Street closed down in July 2009 and the site owner had been unable to attract another occupier despite a thorough marketing campaign.
“Over this period the buildings deteriorated and are now a bit of an eyesore. We are pleased to have acquired the site based on the support of Travelodge which has given us the confidence to progress an exciting new leisure attraction for the area.”
Anyone unable to attend the consultation can submit comments to email@example.com or First Class, Freepost RSST-ZTSA-ABCS, Colliers International UK plc, 15-16 Park Row, Leeds, LS1 5HD.
Responses by email, post or in person will be recorded and considered in the planning application, which is due to be submitted on Tuesday, January 17.
