A59 roadworks for Bogs Lane houses
North Yorkshire County Council have delayed some of its own major roadworks to give the town respite, however housing developers’ work will start start next week.
Roadworks are set to begin on the A59 junction of Bogs Lane and Forest Lane next Thursday (April 7).
North Yorkshire County Council has consulted with developers to try to ensure that the road upgrading to accmdate a new housing estate off Bogs Lane is done with minimum disruption.
Temporary traffic ligths will be needed but will only operate off peak during the hours of 9.30am and 3.00pm.
Miller Homes is carrying out work to install traffic lights, a pedestrian cross and a new bus stop.
David Bowe, Corporate Director for Business and Environmental Services said: “The county council is coming to the end of a whole series of its own highways works involving highway maintenance and sustainable transport projects,” said
“The authority has invested millions in highways improvements in Harrogate over the last year. However we do recognise the impact this investment has had and we have now delayed some major works from our programme in order to provide some respite for the town.
“Unfortunately works programmed by utilities companies and developers cannot be prevented by the county council. The council can however, strive to ensure that such programmes are carried out with the least disruption to the network and completed as swiftly as possible.”
