The application details plans to create a “state of the art” building alongside the Japanese Garden which, if granted approval, will provide a function space for weddings, corporate events and larger parties, as well as an independent restaurant, bar and private lounge.

Five miles west of Ripon in the Nidderdale Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, the first planning proposal was approved in June, which detailed the renovation and refurbishment of the main house and outbuildings, as well as the development of an art spa and fitness centre.

A spokesperson for Grantley Hall Ltd, said: “The plans for this second phase of development at Grantley Hall have been carefully considered by all parties involved and we strongly believe, if approved, they will add significantly to the overall proposition of the hotel, attracting a wider audience to the surrounding area.

“The Japanese Garden is such a unique feature within the grounds, we wanted to ensure that it would be incorporated into the development to create something really special. The glass facades of the proposed space will give people the opportunity to enjoy as much of the garden as possible and create a stunning and distinctive event space. This will allow Grantley Hall to meet the needs of a wider variety of customer.

“The scale of the project is such that it is imperative we continue to work closely with Harrogate Borough Council and all associated parties in the area to make the most of this opportunity and create a facility that we believe will become a real asset to the region.

“The regeneration of this iconic property is of utmost importance and we hope the investment will be welcomed to deliver a venue unlike anything else that currently exists in Yorkshire.”

Grantley Hall is currently owned by Valeria Sykes.
