A Reliant Robin three-wheeled van belonging to Harrogate bar Trotters caught fire in central Harrogate on Thursday, causing delays at a busy town junction.

North Yorkshire Police are investigating the blaze, which was reported at 12.10pm near North Park Road.

Black smoke was visible at the scene, and traffic between the busy Empress and Prince of Wales roundabouts held up while the fire was extinguished and the vehicle cleared.

Nobody was in the van at the time, and no injuries were reported.

A force spokesperson told the Harrogate Advertiser: “The circumstances around the fire are currently being investigated.”

The road has now been cleared.
