Young Harrogate woman turns Endometriosis struggle into inspiring fundraising gala at luxury hotel

A Harrogate woman’s courageous journey through years of misdiagnosis and chronic pain is the driving force behind a powerful fundraising event aimed at raising awareness and support for Endometriosis UK.

The Endo Gala, taking place at the prestigious Rudding Park Hotel in Harrogate on Friday, March 20 will bring together over 150 guests for an evening of celebration, solidarity, and purpose.

The event will feature a three-course meal, live music and entertainment, a raffle and silent auction, and all in honour of women supporting women.

Endometriosis is a debilitating condition affecting one in ten women, yet it takes an average of nine years to diagnose.

The gala’s founder, Molly Woodward, 24, knows this struggle all too well.

Her symptoms began at just 13 years old, with severe pain and irregular periods dismissed as ‘normal’.

Years of trial-and-error treatments followed, until a heartfelt late-night message to her cousin – who also lives with endometriosis – led her to push for answers.

A compassionate GP and a private referral finally brought a diagnosis, but the journey is far from being over.

Molly said: “Endometriosis is exhausting – it steals time, energy, and hope.

“It affects every part of your life - your work, your relationships, your dreams.

"We desperately need more research, more awareness, and ultimately, a cure.

“That’s why this gala matters – it’s not just a fundraiser, it’s a statement.

"A chance for businesses and organisations to stand up and say ‘we care about women’s health’.

"By supporting this event, you’re helping to change the narrative, accelerate diagnosis, and give hope to the next generation.

"Your presence shows solidarity, and any sponsorship helps drive real change.

"Together, we can make endometriosis impossible to ignore.”

Mr Stephen Porter, Consultant Gynaecologist, Primrose Award recipient and BBC-featured Endometriosis surgeon, added: “Endometriosis is one of the most misunderstood and underdiagnosed conditions in women’s health.

"Every story like Molly’s is a powerful reminder of why we must listen, investigate, and advocate.

"Early diagnosis and compassionate care can change lives, and events like the Endo Gala are vital in driving that change.”

The Endo Gala aims to shine a light on real life stories, raise vital funds for Endometriosis UK, and foster a community of support and understanding.

Tables are already more than 50 per cent sold and Molly is looking forward to welcoming local professionals, businesses, and even famous faces, with an event that promises to be both impactful and inspiring.
