Wetherby surgery launches walks for patients and staff

Wetherby Surgery has launched a virtual walking group to help patients stay active and improve their mental health during the Tier 3 lockdown period.

The surgery, run by OnePrimaryCare, is encouraging all staff and patients to get involved by sharing their routes, scenic pictures and words of encouragement to inspire everyone to get outdoors and walking.

The private Facebook group is run by OneMedical Group’s Health Coach Nicola Marchant who has been helping patients prioritise their health and wellbeing throughout the lockdown, while keeping in line with social distancing measures.

Nicola said: “Here at Wetherby Surgery, it is our number one priority to keep our patients and staff healthy.

“We loved the idea of keeping everyone connected while they continue to meet their wellbeing goals and stay active during the darker months.

“And 2020 has been a tough year for everyone, and while we might not be able to meet up in big groups in person, there is no stopping us forming a large community online to encourage everyone to get outside and get walking.

“With all the physical and mental health benefits that come with staying active as well as getting some fresh air, we think it is really important to encourage all our patients and staff to get involved!”

Wetherby Surgery is open for patient registrations and can be contacted on 01937 585669, or visit www.onemedicalgroup.co.uk.
