After more than three months of streaming films at home, movie-goers will be able to return to cinemas in Harrogate in person later this week - albeit with safety precautions and social distancing in place.

After last week's good news about the Odeon, Harrogate's biggest cinema at seats, comes the announcement that Harrogate's Everyman cinema is to reopen. too

The 410-seater cinema in the heart of the town centre will show its first films is nearly four months this weekend.

Located at the corner of Station Parade and Albert Street, Everyman Harrogate is one of second wave of five reopenings by the national film chain after the first five branches opened last weekend in the south.

The first day's programme this Friday, July 10 is expected to be a mix of new hits and popular family favourites such as Oscar winner Parasite, Sonic The Hedgehog, Trolls World Tour, Love Sarah, Jumanji: The Next Level, Fantastic Mr Fox, The Wolf of Wall Street, Star Wars Episode V: The Empire Strikes Back.

Everyman cinemas say they will reopen their remaining venues soon after.

Meanwhile, the 910-seater Odeon at East Parade, Harrogate's famous art deco cinema, says it has introduced major changes to create a new safer cinema experience for visitors when it reopens this Thursday, July 16.

The first day will see a variety of popular films screened at Harrogate Odeon throughout the day, from recent bos office hits to all-time classics.
