Vets to do 12-hour gym session for Poppy Appeal

Veterans Alan Hunt and Tom Smith MBE are planning a 12-hour gym session to raise funds for this year’s Poppy Appeal.

Chairman of the Wetherby Branch of the Royal British Legion, Major (Rtd) Tom said the pair came up with idea came about because of restrictions put on the annual appeal collection.

“The poppy appeal will be very restricted this year due to Covid 19 restictions,” explained Tom.

“So we are trying different ways of raising funds for our Armed Service personnel and veterans.”

The Wetherby Branch members will do their 12-hour gym session on November 1 at Train FX Gym in Thorp Arch.

Tom and Alan will train from 7am to 7pm with only 10 minutes in every hour for food and hydration.

The pair have already raised over £1,200 but are calling for more donations. Visit: https://www.justgiving.com/team/TeamTrainFX
