Steps taken to remember Special Glenn Goodman

North Yorkshire’s Special Constabulary will also be celebrating National Specials Weekend - June 6-7 - by each walking 28,000 steps in memory of Special Constable Glenn Goodman who was murdered while on duty 28 years ago.

The 37-year-old Glenn was shot while on duty on 7 June 1992 when he made a routine stop of a vehicle on the A64 near Tadcaster. He died later that day.

Paul Magee, a member of the IRA was jailed for life for his murder but later released under the Good Friday agreement.

A spokesman for North Yorkshire Police said: “Poignantly, the anniversary of Glenn’s death falls on National Specials Weekend which concludes the wider National Volunteers’ Week.”

A memorial to Glenn Goodman is in Tadcaster.
