Rudgate Brewery bottles new brew to help NHS Charities

Tockwith-based Rudgate Brewery is helping to raise a glass to say thank you to the nation’s NHS workers.

The firm, which operates from Marston Moor Business Park, is launching Nightingale and 20p from each bottle sold will be donated to the NHS Charities Together.

Craig Lee, Managing Director of Rudgate Brewery said: “I have numerous family and friends who work for the NHS and can see the massive pressure they are under.

“I wanted to do something to help. Brewing beer is what I do so why not produce a fantastic new beer to support our fantastic NHS.”

Nightingale is available from mid-May from Booths and selected Cooperative stores.

Craig, whose wife used to work on the children’s ward at Leeds General Infirmary, hopes to raise a sizeable amount of money for the NHS.

Like many other breweries, the closure of pubs and restaurants has had a dramatic impact on their business.

Rudgate has seen a decline in sales as the vast majority of their beer is delivered through pubs.

By reacting swiftly to the changing market, the Brewery has significantly increased its online and take-home sales, which has allowed the company to keep trading.

Craig added: “It has been a difficult few weeks and we don’t know when pubs will reopen but we have looked at what we can do for the best, to keep brewing and to keep jobs.

“Despite these pressures, we wanted to something to show our support for the NHS.

“We are very grateful to our retail partners, Booths and the Cooperative, for their support with this initiative too.”
