Revealed: Mama Doreen’s to offer chance to enjoy afternoon tea on stage at Harrogate Theatre
An award-winning gem of a Harrogate cafe which began as a home-based cup cake business is to take a central role on stage in an unforgettable new experience at Harrogate Theatre.
Mama Doreen’s Emporium, which was originally founded by Jessica Wyatt and her mother Justine and grew from a market stall to become a hugely popular café on Harrogate’s most prestigious street, will have the key role in a new immersive event this summer.
Called Afternoon Tea Served Centre Stage, this exciting on-stage dining experience will bring together the elegance of afternoon tea and the magic of live musical theatre in a truly unique setting.
Transforming the theatre stage into an intimate and beautifully styled dining space, this limited-run experience offers guests the rare opportunity to enjoy a traditional afternoon tea from the performer’s perspective.

Elegant round tables, atmospheric theatrical lighting, and the charm of one of Harrogate’s most treasured cultural venues set the scene for an unforgettable evening.
Jessica Wyatt, owner of Mama Doreen’s Emporium, which is located at Station Square, said. “Bringing together theatre and hospitality in this way feels incredibly special to us.
"Harrogate theatre is such an important part of the community and to create something unique that brings people into this space, to experience and enjoy it in a new way, means a great deal to us.”
Taking place for two evenings only on Monday, July 27 and Wednesday, July 29 at 6:30pm, guests are invited to step onto the iconic stage to indulge in Mama Doreen’s signature afternoon tea, featuring tiered stands of savoury delights, freshly baked scones, and handcrafted sweet treats, all served with tea and coffee.
Enhancing the experience, live performances from Singtasia will provide a captivating soundtrack, featuring a selection of beloved show tunes and musical theatre favourites.
Natalie Rawel, Head of Marketing and Development at Harrogate Theatre, said: “We love working with Mama Doreen’s.
"They’re a wonderful business to partner with and so loved in the town.
"It’s very exciting to be working on this one-of-a-kind event with them.”
