Proud new owners of long-standing Ripon store vow to 'live up to its heritage'
The couple taking over a much-loved Ripon shop say they are proud to carry on the legacy of the previous owners who “had done Ripon proud”.
The Castle, a long-standing interiors and homeware store on North Street, has officially passed into the hands of new local owners, Zoe and Robert Nemes.
The transition marks the retirement of previous owners Graham and Sasha Wilkes, who had run the store for three decades and built it into a cherished part of the local community.
Robert Nemes said: “Our decision to acquire The Castle was driven by a deep appreciation for its heritage and strong connection to the local community.

"We recognised an opportunity to evolve the store’s offering while preserving the quality, service and character customers value."
The Castle officially opened under the new ownership on Tuesday, March 31, welcoming a steady flow of locals, friends, family and loyal customers.
The business had been lovingly run by Graham and Sasha Wilkes for more than 30 years, becoming a well-respected and familiar part of city life.
New owners Zoe and Robert say they are proud to continue that legacy.
“Over 20 years ago I started my career in retail directly opposite The Castle, where I got to know Graham well,” said Robert.
"He was a great mentor to me in those early years, so it feels incredibly special to be taking on the business.
"Graham and Sasha have done Ripon proud, and we wish them both a very happy and well-deserved retirement.”
The new owners aim to bringing fresh energy, new ideas and a renewed vision for the future to the store’s carefully curated range of furniture and home accessories.
While many customer favourites will remain, Zoe and Robert, who live in a small village between Ripon and Richmond, are excited to be introducing thoughtfully-curated new collections in the coming weeks both in-store and online.
Co-owner Zoe Nemes, said: "We both feel incredibly proud to be taking on such a well-loved business and to be continuing its story,
"The support we’ve already received has meant so much to us.”
