“Considering all the restrictions and the appeal being cut short due to the lockdown, we managed to raise a staggering £18446.37,” said chairman of the branch Major (Retd) Tom Smith MBE.

“A huge thanks goes to our Poppy Appeal Organiser Geoff Richards MBE, who led from the front, ensuring under difficult circumstances that we were firstly safe and had the stock turn around for the limited volunteers, to be able to operate.

“Geoff passes his sincere thanks to all of this years volunteers and the support from all over Wetherby.”

Tom added: “The Royal British Legion was formed on 15 May 1921, so next year will be our centenary, so Geoff will pull out all the stops to make it 2021 year to remember.”
