Much-anticipated classic rock album event in Harrogate will offer 'more than a feeling'

Rock music fans in Harrogate will get the chance to learn the inside story of an iconic album as tickets sales rise for this week’s Vinyl Sessions event.

Taking place at Starling Independent Bar Cafe Kitchen in Harrogate on Wednesday, June 10 at 7.30pm, the team will present the legendary self-titled debut album by American rock band Boston, originally released in 1976 and featuring monster hit single More Than A Feeling.

Raising funds for Harrogate Hospital Community Charity, this week’s event will start at 7.30pm with an introduction from MC Colin Paine and an artist profile from Graham, before a full playback of the album on a powerful age-related 1976 Hi-Fi system, mighty Sony STR7065A receiver, Sony PS4750 Turntable, driving RAM 200 Monitor Loudspeakers.

The historical introduction will reveal all about the iconic 1970s album which was produced by band guitarist Tom Scholz and John Boylan.

Scholz was a multi-instrumentalist and engineer who had been involved in the Boston music scene since the late 1960s.

Audiences at Vinyl Sessions will hear how Scholz started to write and record demos in his basement with singer Brad Delp but received numerous rejections from major record labels.

Boston’s demo tape fell into the hands of CBS-owned Epic in 1975 and the rest, as they say, is history.

Except it wasn’t quite as simple as that.

Today the album’s sales stand at almost 25 million worldwide, making it one of the best selling debut albums of all time.
