Wetherby councillor Neil O’Byrne celebrated Yorkshire Day with his first engagement as Mayor by reopening the long-standing antiques fair in the Town Hall.

Welcoming traders back, Coun O’Byrne said: “The re-opening of the antiques fair marks another step in Wetherby coming back to life after the coronavirus pandemic.” The fair was well attended by 11 traders selling a variety of curios, antiques and vintage items.

Members of Town Hall staff were on hand to ensure that it ran in a ‘covid-safe’ way, taking contact details for the NHS’ track and trace programme, restricting the number of customers who could browse to eight at a time and providing hand gel to everyone entering the building.

The fair runs every Saturday and has been established for over 40 years.
