Major star added to bill for first outdoor music concert at Harrogate's Great Yorkshire Showground since Elton John
Vernon Kay’s BBC Radio 2 Dance Sounds of the 90s Live Tour is to join the bill of one of Harrogate’s biggest open air summer music events ever held.
The new addition to the line-up is a major boost for the spectacular concert at the Great Yorkshire Showground on Saturday, August 15.
Popular DJ and presenter Vernon Kay said: “I’m absolutely delighted to be bringing BBC Radio 2’s Dance Sounds of the 90s Live Tour to Harrogate this summer.
"The 90s gave us some of the greatest dance records ever made and there’s nothing better than getting out in front of a big crowd to celebrate them properly.
"It’s going to be such a brilliant night.”
This will be the first outdoor music concert held at the venue since Sir Elton John performed in 2012.
Symphonic Ibiza will combine orchestra, large-scale production and live vocals from special guests Heather Small, Rebecca Ferguson MBE and Alison Limerick.
The addition of Vernon Kay means audiences will now experience two full-length standout shows in one evening, with Vernon Kay’s full live tour show helping launch the night before the main Symphonic Ibiza production takes over the Main Ring.
Freddy White, founder of Yorkshire-based company Sound & White and lead promoter of Symphonic Ibiza, said: “We’re thrilled to be welcoming Vernon to Harrogate.
"To have a show of this calibre and profile joining the line-up is a huge moment for us and a fantastic boost for the event."
The event is a collaboration between Sound & White and The Great Yorkshire Events Centre, the Showground’s commercial events venue and grounds.
Profits from events held at the Showground go to the Yorkshire Agricultural Society charity.
The event is also being delivered in partnership with local businesses and sponsors, including Masons of Yorkshire, Tap & Tuk Tuk on Cheltenham Parade and Rhubarb Restaurant.
International champagne house Pol Roger will headline the VIP experience, with a dedicated VIP garden area featuring an elevated food and drink offering and other luxury amenities alongside exclusive Pol Roger hospitality suites.
