Major boost to Harrogate's reputation as a 'leading hub for EV-friendly travel in the North'
Harrogate’s RHS Harlow Carr Gardens is launching 16 new EV charging bays and motorists will be able to charge for free during its inaugural week.
The new environmentally friendly facility includes four rapid bays and 12 fast bays and follows the successful expansion of electric vehicle (EV) facilities across RHS sites nationally.
The new EV charging bays, delivered in partnership with RAW Charging, is now fully operational and will offer complimentary charging to all visitors from Tuesday, June 2 to Thursday, June 4 via RAW Rewards.
This latest addition to RHS Harlow Carr Gardens comes as North Yorkshire continues to see a rapid rise in electric vehicle ownership, with the town often recognised as a leading hub for EV-friendly travel in the North.

The destination will provide a significant boost to local infrastructure, featuring a mix of 16 dedicated EV bays: four rapid DC charging bays (up to 50kW) for those needing a quick boost and twelve two fast AC charging bays (up to 22kW) for visitors planning a more immersive day out.
Jason Simpson, CEO of RAW Charging, the leading destination EV charge point provider for hospitality, leisure, and retail destinations across the UK, said: “RHS Garden Harlow Carr is another fantastic example of an amazing place we’ve connected with best-in-class EV infrastructure.
"This new installation delivers the reliability and convenience EV drivers expect, ensuring that a visit to these historic gardens and a stop at Bettys, a Yorkshire institution, is as seamless as it is sustainable.”
The new project marks another milestone in the RHS’s overarching strategy to install 90 charging bays across its five UK gardens as it works towards becoming climate positive by 2030.
Malcolm Anderson, Head of Sustainability at the RHS, said: “RHS Garden Harlow Carr is a vital part of our garden network and this major new charging facility exemplifies our ambitions to make sustainable travel easier and more accessible for visitors in the north and across the UK.
