'Ladies With Attitude' in the spotlight at Harrogate Odeon thanks to Harrogate Film Society
Harrogate Film Society has talked about the inspiration behind the launch of its third annual Classic Cinema Season.
Since it was founded in 1956, Harrogate Film Society has been widely regarded as one of the biggest, best and most progressive groups of its type in the UK with a commitment to bringing the very best of world of cinema to Harrogate.
Entitled Ladies With Attitude, the emphasis this time around will be on female acting legends in Classic Cinema Season, chosen by HFS members Mandy Hitchborn and David Ince with new input from committee member Ian Birdsey.
David Ince said: “We are very excited about CCS3, which is coming up fast.

"Ladies With Attitude has been inspired by Madonna's 1990 hit Vogue in which all four of our featured ladies: Bette Davis, Greta Garbo, Katharine Hepburn and Marilyn Monroe are gleefully namechecked.
“With his knowledge and enthusiasm for the classics, Ian has helped immensely and you will see him in action in some of our pre-screening intros.”
Screening at the Harrogate Odeon, Harrogate Film Society's Classic Cinema Season will open on Wednesday, January 21 with All About Eve (1950) and also includes timeless movies such as The African Queen, Queen Christina and Gentlemen Prefer Blondes.
Launched in 2024, previous Classic Cinema Season programmes have featured To Have and Have Not, La Dolce Vita, The Night of the Hunter and more.
HFS’s core programme each season consists of 15 contemporary feature films or documentaries from around the world.
