Knaresborough Players 'thrilled' to unveil brilliantly funny comedy by BAFTA-winning writer Simon Nye

Knaresborough Players are to present a “riotous royal treat” to audiences soon with a production of The Crown Jewels.

This highly-rated local amateur dramatics society is thrilled to be one of the very first groups in the country to secure the rights to the recent West End smash from the pen of BAFTA-winning writer Simon Nye.

Running from Wednesday, May 13 to Saturday, May 16 at Frazer Theatre, The Crown Jewels will take audiences back to 1671 to witness the most audacious - and scarcely believable - heist in British history.

The charismatic and unpredictable Colonel Blood has set his sights on stealing the Crown Jewels in plain sight from the Tower of London.

Aided by a ragtag gang of misfits, Blood must execute the perfect robbery, all while navigating the volatile moods of King Charles II.

The Knaresborough production’s director is determined to pull out all the stops to bring this uproarious royal affair to local audiences.

“It has been ten years since I last directed, and I always swore that I was far happier behind the scenes or up in the tech box,” admitted director Siân Pearce.

"But, when the opportunity to direct this show came up, I knew that I had to grab it with both hands.

"It’s a brilliantly funny script and I’ve been blessed to be able to assemble a fantastic cast of really strong strong performers. I can’t wait for our audiences to see the results of our hard work.”
