Coun Jackie Crozier took the chain of office during the traditional ceremony on Sunday, May 11.
The Engineer Regiment paraded through the city to exercise the Freedom of Ripon.
This was followed by the official installation of the Mayor at Ripon Cathedral.
The event formed part of a long weekend of commemorations in the city to mark the 80th anniversary of VE Day.
