High praise for North Yorkshire shop after it receives a 'royal' thank you

Harrogate woman urges people to support unpaid carers as coronavirus takes its toll

Staff and volunteers at Church Fenton Community Shop were sent the 'royal thank you' in a card praising their hard work - which arrived on the business' third anniversary.

The shop also received Countryside Alliance Award for Best Village Shop/Post Office in 2018, another testament to their efforts.

It has proved to be a lifeline for the community throughout the past three months of the pandemic and has remained open, seven days a week, and fully stocked throughout the crisis.

The extended team of volunteers have also been offering essential food deliveries and a secure prescription delivery service, operated twice weekly.

A member of the volunteer team said: “We need to shout this from the rooftops! All of us feel incredibly proud and fortunate to live in such a wonderful, caring community during these difficult times.
