A lot has happened in the last 20 years, with restaurants, pubs, bars and shops both opening and closing their doors, buildings being sold or demolished and new experiences on offer for residents and visitors.
So why not take a walk down memory lane and look through these 13 ways that Harrogate has changed since the year 2000. How many do you remember?
9. You can now get to London on just one train
Last year saw the arrival of the new Azuma trains, which offer services to London Kings Cross directly out of Harrogate. The LNER train now sees six daily services to the Capital, straight out of our rail station - with no changes.
10. We got a Tory MP
After being a Lib Dem constituency for 13 years from 1997 with Phil Willis as the MP, things changed for Harrogate and Knaresborough in 2010 when Conservative Andrew Jones was voted in. He has served nine years as the Harrogate MP so far and was re-elected at the end of last year.
11. Harrogate got its own Pride in Diversity Festival
In 2017, Harrogate got its very own Pride in Diversity Festival, to rival the big cities like Leeds and Manchester. The festival has now enjoyed three events and has grown year-on-year, with a glorious and colourful parade through the centre of town and lots of activities on offer at Valley Gardens.
