Stephen Mason and his fiancée Mandy were due to be married on April 10, and to overcome the sadness of no longer being able to due to social distancing and lockdown measures, Stephen arranged a symbolic ceremony on the day - complete with Haribo rings, a friend stepping in to play the part of the registrar at a safe distance, and tailored vows and speeches to reflect the current situation.

The happy couple plan to get married later this year, but in the meantime, this fun mock ceremony has certainly lifted spirits...

Stephen said: "Although it wasn't a legal wedding, it was still a special day, and she was over the moon.

The happy couple: Stephen and Mandy.

"Just being me and being spontaneous, I saw how upset my wife-to-be was that we weren't getting married as planned, so i thought, 'you my love are getting married, no matter what.' And I did my best to arrange something that would come close in these trying times.

"For anyone whose wedding has been postponed due to the coronavirus outbreak, all I can say is chin up, don't stress, be calm as others are in the same boat, or have maybe even had their weddings and are on honeymoons quarantined and can't do the things they wanted.

"But you have been given another chance to make it even more special, and just think, you get another hen or stag do out of it. The future will be bright as long as we stick together and help each other - we can get through this."
